Greetings I am Dr. Millhouse. A little bit about myself. Life started in an orphanage for me. I was adopted into a wonderful family at the age of 5. My dad died at a young age so I was raised by my mother with help from her parents, and grew up most of my life in Idaho. Before Idaho I had lived some of the time in Pennslyvania. At 19 I joined the Navy, deployed a couple times, met my first wife during that time. Sadly she passed away from a pulmonary embolism while I was on my second deployment. I left the navy with an honorable discharge to pursue medicine hoping I could make a difference. I completed my undergraduate work at Lewis Clark state College in Lewiston, Idaho. It was during this time I was able to find love again, get remarried. We have 3 beautiful children. I was accepted to medical school in Arizona at AT STILL School of Osteopathic Medicine completing that in 2019, and came to Kirksville MO for my Family Medicine Residency, completing that in June of 2024. Rural communities are my preference as I prefer the slower, more peaceful setting of life rather than the hustle and bustle of bigger cities which I have lived in. My top priority is my family. My interests include family medicine, hospice/palliative medicine, medical care for veterans as I am a veteran myself, as well as both hospital and clinical medicine. My hobbies include spending quality time with good friends, listening to music, playing piano, dancing, writing stories, reading, watching new movies in the theater, traveling, spending time by the water such as a lake or a river, and enjoying sunsets and sunrises. I look forward to connecting with this community and connecting my family to this community. I hope to build bridges, collaborate with people to improve their physical and mental health, partnering withthem to provide the best care I can give as we share this in these special moments during this beautiful journey we call life.
Cheryl was born on an Army Base in Texas and her family moved a few times during early childhood due to her father’s active military career. They lived in Texas and Mississippi before settling in Omaha, Nebraska. During college, she worked at University of Nebraska Hospital as a phlebotomist, then lab specialist, and later in diabetes clinical research. She earned her Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Nebraska in 1998 then her doctorate from Des Moines University Medical School in 2004. After an initial residency in obstetrics and gynecology (OB), she transitioned to Family Medicine to have more time with her own growing family. She completed her Family Medicine residency through Michigan State University in Muskegon in 2007.
Dr. Quinn returned to the area to live near family and has been a family physician in the southeast Iowa area since 2007. Her personal history of bariatric surgery and goal of preventing diabetes complications fuels her desire to help people with obesity and diabetes optimize their care. She’s experienced with complex medical conditions in outpatient and nursing home settings, as well as end of life hospice care. Dr. Quinn has worked in acute rehabilitation and acute hospital settings, but now focuses on the outpatient clinic setting. She served as Medical Examiner for Keokuk County and was the Medical Director of the medical clinic, cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation and sleep study at Keokuk County prior to her move to Van Buren County.
Dr. Quinn is board certified in Family Practice. She is looking forward to sharing her experience and compassion at Van Buren County Medical Clinics. She is accepting new patients of all ages and medical conditions.
Cheryl is a very proud mother of 2 sons. Liam works part-time and attending local community college and Roan begins the pre-dentistry program at the University of Iowa later this year. The family also includes 2 beloved dogs, Ruby the Vizsla and Dani the German Shepherd. The family enjoys trying new food/flavors, playing with the dogs, and going for walks and bike rides together.
I came to VBCH to be closer to my girls while they are in school and love the family friendly culture here! I appreciate the more intimate atmosphere and more personal service we are able to provide to the community. The hospital believes in its employees and is happy to give current employees the chance to advance if possible.
