Emergency Medical Technician (EMT/AEMT)
Van Buren County Hospital is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT/AEMT) to join our Emergency Services team. This position provides emergency and non-emergency patient care in the Emergency Department, throughout the hospital as appropriate, and during prehospital ambulance responses.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, and paramedics with patient care in the Emergency Department.
- Perform patient assessments and promptly communicate changes in patient condition.
- Assist with emergency stabilization, treatments, procedures, transfers, positioning, and other patient-care needs.
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency ambulance calls.
- Provide prehospital assessment, stabilization, treatment, and transport within EMT/AEMT scope of practice.
- Perform clinical procedures and interventions appropriate to certification level and demonstrated competency.
- Assist with airway management, oxygen administration, patient monitoring, splinting, wound care, immobilization, and other emergency interventions.
- Complete patient-care reports and other required documentation accurately and timely.
- Inspect, clean, disinfect, restock, and prepare ambulances and emergency equipment.
- Maintain readiness of emergency equipment, supplies, and assigned patient-care areas.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, dispatch, receiving facilities, providers, and other members of the healthcare team.
- Participate in continuing education, competency validation, quality improvement, and patient-safety activities.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an approved EMT or AEMT education program.
- Current Iowa EMT or AEMT certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- Valid Iowa driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to maintain all required certifications and complete required competency validation.
- Previous EMS or Emergency Department experience preferred.
- EVOC training preferred.
- Rural EMS or Critical Access Hospital experience preferred.
