Our endocrinology clinic combines the expertise of an endocrinology specialist with the support of the VBCH care team. During your visit, an onsite clinical team member will assist with vital signs, medication review, testing needs and the physical portions of the exam while you connect virtually with the endocrinologist. This allows patients to receive comprehensive specialty care without having to travel long distances.
Conditions We Care For
Endocrinology focuses on conditions involving the body’s hormones, metabolism and endocrine glands. Services may include evaluation and ongoing management of:
- Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
- Thyroid disorders, including hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease and thyroid nodules
- Osteoporosis and osteopenia
- Adrenal gland disorders
- Pituitary disorders
- Parathyroid and calcium disorders
- Hypoglycemia
- Hormonal and metabolic conditions
- Obesity and weight-related metabolic concerns
Comprehensive Diabetes Support
For patients living with diabetes, our team can help coordinate care involving blood glucose monitoring, continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), insulin pumps and other diabetes technology.
Depending on each patient’s needs, services may also include diabetes education, nutrition counseling, insulin and injectable medication education, foot evaluations and coordination of laboratory testing. Our team can also assist patients with downloading or sharing glucose and device data so the endocrinologist can review trends and make informed treatment recommendations.
Testing & Treatment Close to Home
When additional testing or treatment is needed, VBCH can help coordinate many services locally, including laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging and certain outpatient treatments. These may include bone density testing, thyroid imaging, CT or MRI studies, osteoporosis treatments such as Prolia injections or Reclast infusions, and other testing recommended by your endocrinologist when available.
Our endocrinology team works closely with your primary care provider and other members of your healthcare team to ensure recommendations, medications, testing and follow-up care are well coordinated between visits.
