RN House Supervisor – Nights (Wednesday–Friday | 3 x 12-Hour Shifts)
Van Buren County Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a House Supervisor on night shift. This position provides hospital-wide clinical and operational leadership while remaining actively involved in patient care. The House Supervisor works collaboratively with nursing staff, providers, and department leaders to coordinate staffing, support emergency response, facilitate patient flow, and ensure safe, high-quality patient care throughout the hospital.
Emergency Department experience is highly valued in this role. The House Supervisor frequently supports the Emergency Department during periods of increased patient volume, high-acuity situations, and emergency response while also serving as a clinical resource throughout the organization.

Essential Responsibilities
- Provide hospital-wide clinical leadership during assigned shifts.
- Support the Emergency Department during high-acuity patient care situations and emergency response.
- Coordinate staffing resources across clinical departments.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and patient placement.
- Serve as the administrative representative during assigned shifts.
- Provide direct patient care when operationally necessary.
- Support nursing staff with clinical decision-making and operational issues.
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to promote safe, efficient patient care.
- Coach and mentor nursing staff while promoting teamwork and accountability.
Qualifications
Required
- Current Iowa RN license (or Compact State eligibility)
- Current BLS certification
- ACLS certification (or ability to obtain within one year)
- Minimum three years of acute care nursing experience
Preferred
- BSN
- Previous Charge Nurse or House Supervisor experience
- TNCC and/or PALS certification
- Critical Access Hospital experience
- Epic experience
