Surgical Technologist / Central Sterile Technician

What You'll Do
In this role, you will work in both the operating room and Central Sterile. Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field during surgical and procedural cases.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team and pass instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
- Assist with patient positioning, equipment setup, room preparation, and turnover.
- Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Operate sterilization equipment and complete required biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring.
- Assemble instrument trays and case carts using count sheets and physician preference cards.
- Maintain sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment needed for scheduled procedures.
- Assist with surgical inventory, supplies, and equipment.
- Follow infection prevention, sterile technique, and patient safety standards throughout all assigned responsibilities.
Daily responsibilities may vary based on the surgical schedule, patient care needs, staffing, and assigned role. The successful candidate will be expected to work in and maintain competency in both Surgical Technology and Central Sterile functions.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to successfully complete departmental orientation and competency validation.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Preferred:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
- Previous Surgical Services or sterile processing experience.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile technique, infection prevention, and medical terminology.
Pay & Certification Differential
Pay Range: $24.50–$36.55 per hour, based on relevant education and experience.
Employees who hold both Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) credentials are eligible for an additional $1.50 per hour certification differential.
