PRN Registered Nurse (RN) Exception
This unique role is ideal for nurses who enjoy variety, autonomy, and the opportunity to utilize a broad range of emergency care skills. In addition to providing emergency department nursing care, RN Exceptions serve as a flexible emergency services resource and may participate in ambulance response, interfacility patient transfers, prehospital care activities, and other emergency service functions as assigned.
As a Critical Access Hospital, VBCH offers the opportunity to practice at the top of your license while working closely with providers, EMS personnel, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate emergency nursing care for patients of all ages
• Respond effectively to emergent and critical patient situations
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatment interventions
• Collaborate with EMS personnel and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Complete required clinical documentation
• Participate in ambulance response, patient transfers, and prehospital care activities
• Maintain emergency department and ambulance equipment readiness
• Promote a positive patient and family experience through exceptional customer service and communication
Qualifications:
Required:
• Current Iowa RN License or Compact RN License
• EMT Certification
• ACLS Certification
• Mandatory Reporter Training
Preferred:
• TNCC Certification (or ability to obtain within six months)
• PALS Certification (or ability to obtain within one year)
• Previous Emergency Department or EMS experience
